Oilskin
Oilskin materials were originally developed in the 1800s for the sailing industry, but are now more broadly used, along with waxed cotton, for a wide range of foul weather gear.
These oilskin hats and waxed cotton hats are made by having wax or oil woven into the cotton, or applied to the hats exterior.
In the capable hands of the people at Conner Hats, waterproof has never been more fashionable.
Care Instructions
It's best to spot clean all cloth hats with a damp cloth using cold water, or hand-wash in the sink if necessary. We recommend using plant-based soaps because regular detergents can be toxic for our waterways.
Re-shaping & Brim Wrinkles
Always let your hat dry naturally. If you hat gets out of shape, you can use steam from a tea kettle to reshape it. Hold the hat in the steam ad allow it to soften. You can then reshape your hat to its original shape and then let it cool down before wearing.
Another option to take out wrinkles from the brim is to place a clean rag or old t-shirt over the wrinkled area and then iron the area on low.
